Marley Building Systems (Etex) Offers Online CPD Training
Despite the nationwide COVID lockdown, Marley Building Systems will be offering online Continuing Professional Development (CPD) training. The purpose of the training is to track and record the learning, skills and knowledge you’re gaining as you work in your field. CPD training offers structured, informal, reflective, and self-directed learning. The training is compulsory for architects and contractors. It will contribute greatly to your career development and knowledge advancement.
Modules on offer
Marley offers five CPD modules that have been accredited with the South African Institute of Architects (SAIA). Training commenced last week and 70 professionals were in attendance. We kicked off the sessions with the Lightweight Steelframe building (LSFB) module, which looked at LSFB in South Africa and the history thereof, from its application to acceptability. We also covered benefits, quality assurance & industry protection, legal requirements, typical assemblies, services, manufacturing and built examples. The second training session took place took Friday 24 April and it covered fibre cement, its production process, performance and areas of application.
The following training modules will be offered in the coming weeks:
This module will provide an insight into plasterboard, its composition, production process and application, including its performance (fire, moisture and acoustics). Commercial and residential systems for ceilings and partitions will be considered, as well as solutions for infection control, X-rays, high impact and security walls. Quality and environmental issues will also be highlighted.
Passive fire protection and high-performance insulation
In this module, we will look at passive fire protection products and systems to aid in the compartmentation (design) of spaces. It explores principles of fire stopping, using penetration seals, linear gap seals and cavity barriers. We will also examine the spalling of the concrete plus protection of structural steel, using fire-resistant boards, intumescent coatings and cementitious sprays.
Don’t let COVID-19 and the lockdown get in the way of your career development. Register to join our online training sessions and use this lockdown period to collect CPD points and stay ahead of the game. At the end of the training, you will receive a CPD certificate. The training will take place online via Zoom, Teams, Skype, and GoTo Meeting.
